The Overlord of the Dagbon traditional kingdom, Ndan Ya Naa Abukari Mahama II has advised all factions of the New Patriotic Party in the Yendi constituency ahead of the parliamentary primaries in January.
He urged the rank and file of the party including the candidates contesting the elections to promote peace and cohesion among their supporters. He said peace is essential for development in the municipality and the entire Dagbon traditional area.
The Ya Naa addressed members of the NPP who accompanied the Minister for Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal to the Gbewa palace on Tuesday, 15 October, 2019, on a working visit in the northern region. He further implored them to be decorous in their campaign and underscored the need for peace and unity amongst them.
The King stated, “God Almighty chooses who becomes a leader, not money, not complexion, not status; only the one ordained by the creator will be chosen” Ya Naa stated. However, he added the party must rally support behind the elected candidate for the common purpose of development.
He noted taking uncompromising position in their difference of ideas would not give the needed development for the people, stating that, “if your colleague is chosen today, support him and tomorrow will be your turn.”
Meanwhile, the Minister for Business Development subsequently paid a courtesy call on the Mionlana, Alhaji Abdulai Mahamadu, the Diare Naa, Alhaji Abdulai Abukari II and the Yoo Naa, Abdulai Yakubu Andani V, where he reiterated some of the business support models the ministry is implementing to cushion young entrepreneurs in the country.
Dr Mohammed Awal said through the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs, Ghana is an exporter of many of crops cultivated in the country, adding that, farmers in the northern region must take full advantage of the program. He said government has taken the burden of school fees on parents, therefore, advising parents to ensure their benefit the free senior high school education.
He disclosed this year about three thousand individual entrepreneurs who have undergone capacity building training across under the National Entrepreneur Innovation Program will receive business capital to manage their businesses. He said the school entrepreneurship.
