With an initial target of planting about 340 thousand trees, the Juaso Forest District ended up planting over one million trees pushing them to an¥ enviable position of the best and the national champions as far as the just ended 2024 green Ghana project is concerned.
This represents over ten percent of the national target of ten million and close to fifty percent of the Ashanti regional target which was about two million.
Some of the tree species planted by institutions churches and individuals include tick, afram, mahogany, bamboo, cashew fruit crops among others.
The Juaso Forest District Managress Madam Priscilla Asumani who disclosed this to the media in an interaction at Juaso in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region attributed the success story to team work among management of the forest District and some private developers who contributed immensely to the over all massive improvement over the previous years .
Some of the private developer according to Madam Asumani who willingly donated towards the 2024 green Ghana project includes Tropenboss, Bamboo and Rattan unit FORIG among others.
She was hopeful that there would be significant increase of survival rate of the trees as compared to the 85percent that was recorded last year.
She however made a passionate appeal to the Ministry Lands and Natural Resources for regular and prompt releases of allowances to the YEA people to motivate them work more harder.
She also talked about some few challenges such as illegal logging , lack of adequate staff as well as strong official vehicles to enable the office work more efficiently.
