Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital delivering on five year strategic plan in line with government ‘s vision
In pursuit of becoming a center of excellence in the next few years as it marks it’s 70th anniversary, the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has rolled out plans and strategies to ensure that this goals are actualized
Currently the hospital is under going a major retooling by upgrading obsolete equipments and human resource upgrading such as training of specialists and sub specialists in readiness of a cardiology center.
The cardiology center which is being built through the Ghana Health Trust Fund popularly known as Mahama Cares is scheduled to be functional in May this year .
Due to this, three cardiologists and some other critical staff are also going to be trained before the center opens.
This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo at a consultative forum with management, consultants and senior specialists of the hospital in Kumasi.
This forms part of the 70th anniversary celebration of the hospital under the theme :70 years of impacting lives: the roll of quality in pursuit of excellence.
The forum was to serve as an engagement platform between management and senior specialists who are seen as the back bone of the facility in terms of clinical care.
Dr Baidoo said it is their vision to make the hospital a center of excellence in terms of clinical services, research and medical education.
Our quest for a center of quality he said cannot just be a slogan but a systematic pursue of safety, patient centeredness, efficiency and quality.
The CEO believes that there is the need to overcome some major herdles such as resource constraints, absence of some critical staff among other things if excellence is to be achieved adding that excellence can not be achieved accidentally but rather engagement through relentless commitment to quality.
He called for collaborative efforts to make the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital become a global center of attraction in the next 70 years
