Renowned entrepreneur bemoans urgent reform of Ghana’s educational system

A renowedUS based Ghanaian entrepreneur has waded into the call by a section of Ghanaians to have a paradigm shift in the current system of Ghana’s education.
Mr Alex Amoako the proprietor of the America Cooperative School and owner of some other businesses was of the view that the premium placed on foreign languages particularly the English language as against local Ghanaian languages has contributed immensely to the underdevelopment of the nation.
He called for an end to the English language as the medium of expression in the various schools since a few people tend to benefit from this phenomenon while the larger masses are deprived from exhibiting their talents just because their vocabularies are limited in the English language.

Mr Amoako said this in an interview during a graduation ceremony of the America Cooperative School at Effiduase in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti region.
The American Cooperative School which was stated some eighteen years ago has grown to become one of the best in the Sekyere enclave and still expanding.

Mr Amoako pointed to the fact that most of the giant economies in the world such as Japan ,Russia, China and the rest used their own local languages to teach their children.
He there fore called on teachers and parents who ridicule their wards because they find if difficult to expresse themselves in the English language to eschew such habits.
Mr Amoako hinted that the Junior High section of the school would have technical and vocational education intensified so as to enable the child develop some skill that could help him in life even if he is not able to go further after the J H S education.
